Our entrance is located BEHIND the house. When entering, walk towards the garage and turn right. You have access to most common areas (not the garage).
The Neighborhood
GENERAL: We're near central Sacramento, 8-10 minutes from Midtown/Downtown, the new Golden 1 Arena, UC Davis Medical Center and Children's Hospital. There is a grocery store, bank and drug store nearby, with Starbucks and several restaurants, including a vegan diner, all within walking distance. OAK PARK: We are located is one Sacramento’s most historic, culturally diverse, and vibrant neighborhoods. More than any other area, it captures the essence of Sacramento’s ‘farm-to-fork’ cultural identity. The neighborhood has experienced amazing transformation within the past 5 years. 1 block away is the historic Colonial Theatre, and within 1 mile is Oak Park’s artist district, with several local galleries, bookstores and a nearby farmer’s market there as well. 12TH AVE: We live in a friendly, working class street. Our neighbors are diverse and friendly folks.
Getting Around
DRIVING: We are located 5 mins away from 2 major freeways: Interstate 80 and Highway 50. We are also near Stockton Blvd, which is a main thoroughfare across South Sacramento. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The local bus system is called RT Transit. They offer bus & light rail service across the city and have stops located very near our home. Bus: 51 line is 1.5 blocks from our house (Stockton Blvd) Lightrail: 39th Street Lightrail Station is 1 mile away.
Notes
Our home and neighborhood are relatively quiet and relaxed. About 1 block up the street is an Elks Lodge bar (for military veterans) that has a karaoke night once a week, usually after 9-10pm. At times, people attending the bar may park on our street, which can make parking difficult. They also play the music kind of loud - not loud enough to keep one from sleeping but loud enough to notice from half a block away. It’s once a week and has not caused an issue for anyone before, but I like to be forthcoming about it.
